This guy http://www.sean-hemmerle.com/ has some featured photos on the TIME Magazine site capturing bits n pieces of Detroit ruins that have been left to roam. Check em' here http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1864272,00.html
Though the focus on the automotive industry hasn't been to kind to Detroit as of late, these massive buildings and factories haven't been occupied by developers or workers for great lengths of time giving many of us round these parts opportunities to lurk about, take pictures, and view "the bums palace" amongst the concrete crumbles and garbage.
The reconstruct-reformat-reuse concept in Detroit has seemed to go out the window a long time ago so the future of these places along with the big 3's growing ability is yet to be determined. Dude Sean raised a good point by stating "America was once the standard-bearer for quality, In transitioning from a production economy to a service economy, we gave away something that we didn't understand the importance of." In conclusion: The outsiders will never have a true sense of the "D" and all its perks. I find comfort in their sense of inaccuracy.
